Well, I'm almost done making the 240 cards that will be sent to Iraq next week. I didn't have a lot of people show up for Cards for Troops Day, but I was committed to sending 240 cards, since that's what I bought enought supplies for. Tuesday afternoon, several teens helped make about 70 cards, and this morning, a friend dropped by to help complete the remaining 50. I have about 15 to put the finishing touches on, and get together the packaging--the box, enough envelopes, and ziplock baggies for each card. Shown here are some gifts I made for my helpers and those that came Friday evening. Inside each pouch is a candy bar--Hersheys, snickers, milky way, twix, dove bars...I followed the tutorial here, as seen in the Purely Pomegranate pouch. The other treats I decided didn't need to be so long, so I just made them slightly longer than the candy bar. I think it's such a cute way to give a regular candy bar.
