Weekend sketch Challenge 36

I missed last weekend's challenge by Fresh & Fun , but I managed to get this one done right away! Beate posts them on Friday morning, and I got to stampin' right away on Friday afternoon while Makenna was sleeping. Hannah had fun water-painting her Tigger & Pooh book while I stamped. It's actually the first time I got to stamp in about 2 weeks! One big reason was because I was working on a digi-scrappin' book for Hannah's Birthday. She turned 3 last week! I scrapped a book just for her, using the lyrics from Tim McGraw's "My Little Girl" song from the Flicka movie. I'll post 2 pictures after this post. While I love to do hands-on paper scrapbooking, this method allows me to print off a flat page for the girls that they can't destroy--and if they do, then I just print it again.
I'm posting 2 cards that both follow Beate's sketch. While I like them both, I felt like the bottom card followed Beate's example, and I wanted to demonstrate a little more creativity in my second card. I used the same color combination and Designer paper in each: Wild Wasabi, Almost Amethyst, Basic Black, and Apricot Appeal; the DS is retired from the Fall-Winter Collections, and I can't remember the name. I actually thought I was using So Saffron instead of Apricot Appeal when I chose my paper! I think the apricot is a much better choice! I chose this color combination for the Springy Feeling it evokes--doesn't it make you feel light and cheery? The past few days, the sun actually shone! Here in West Michigan, sunshine is not a common thing during the winter! We've had 90" of snow this winter as well!
Card 1:
What I did--Almost Amethyst base 5x5, stamped with linen stamp in same color ink, then folded over the edge back to the Apricot Appeal strip to give the card some dimension; DS 4.25x3; Apricot Appeal strip 4.25x3/8";
Stamps--So Beautiful, linen stamp (retired)
Accessories: Scallop circle Punch, then punched 1/16" holes around the scallops; Word Window Punch--in Basic Black CS, cut the punched out shape in half and used for hinges with a silver brad; Photo Corner Punch;
Card 2
What I did: Apricot Appeal base 4.25x5.5;
DP 3.25x4.25, ticket corner punched; Almost Amethyst 3 3/8x 4.5, ticket corner punched; Wrapped ribbon strip vertically (non SU), and tied a knot with a separate piece;
Layer these together, and added black brads on the corners.
Wild Wasabi 2 1/8 square, ticket corner punched
Sweet Shapes Set: background stamp in Versamark; solid butterfly stamped in Basic Black; "Sweet" stamped in black; Butterfly outline stamped with Almost Amethyst ink on DS paper, cut out and adhered with a 3-D dot (do you like the shadow effect?); Apricot Appeal Brads (non SU) added to corners.
Paper-Pierced around the Almost Amethyst layer, and connected holes with a white paint pen.
Wild Wasabi Photo Corners added on outer corners.
I also changed the way I do my photo editing on my posts. I made them 5x5 and added a few frames around them, plus I made a little watermark thingy with my name on it. That's so nobody can take my pics without my permission, and it means that all images belong to me (not claiming designs, stamps, or paper). I generally try to give credit to this areas in my posts.

Very nice cards. Love how you put the scallop over the edge.
