Weekend Sketch #28 Be Merry

I spent some time stamping on Friday...First time in a week! The girls have been kinda sick, especially Hannah. We haven't been getting much sleep at night--Yuck! First she threw up and was feverish, and then she was feverish with a raspy throat. At night, I was afraid she wouldn't be able to breathe--very scary! She would get upset, and then struggle to breathe. I finally found some medicine that fit her symptoms on Saturday and it seems to be helping her breathing and raspy-ness. (Is that a word? I'm always making up words!) It feels so weird to be home on a Sunday Morning instead of at church. I didn't think it would be a good idea to take the girls to church today. I've only missed church a handful of times in my entire life, so it's strange to be lazying around this morning.
I decided to take a simple approach to these cards. I followed the Fresh & Fun Sketch. The base is out of Wild Wasabi, cut 4.25x5.5. The bottom vertical stripe is Bashful Blue. The wheel was rolled in White craft ink and embossed with white powder using the Snow Jumbo wheel from the Holiday Mini.
Here's the rest of the deets on Card #1: Stamped the Bold Snowflake jumbo wheel using Bashful Blue ink on white CS. Layered circles using punches in Bashful Blue and Real Red CS with an eyelet attached. When I set the eyelet, I placed the silver ribbon through it first. I used a retired set to stamp mittens in Real Red ink cut out and layered on top, and glitter added. Be Merry comes from the Warm Words set--very versatile set.
Card #2: the red stripe layered on the Bashful Blue is actually Red Velvet Ribbon!! I got this 50% off at Hobby Lobby. Try it sometime! I'm wondering if I can use my punches on it...I know I'll be able to use my Crop-a-Dile on it. I layered Pretty in Pink and White circles cut with punches on top, using a snowman stamp from the Snow Flurries set. I'm so glad I bought this set a few years ago. I love the snowmen! I colored red with blender pens and pastels to add a touch of color, and used glitter to accent using a glue pen and sprinkled glitter on it. I added an eyelet and used the Be Merry sentiment like in card #1, and placed a snowflake in the corner using the snowflake punch in Bashful Blue CS. I sponged the edges with a sponge and Blue Brocade ink. I added glitter on the snowflake points and placed a sticky jewel in the center (a $1 buy last year; they're gems for a cell phone or something).
The Holiday Mini can still be ordered from until the end of November... Check it out!
