Photo Purse

I finally added the finishing touches to the photo purse I made for myself for Mother's Day! I offered to make one for my Mother as well, and she finally gathered the pictures she wanted to put in it. Monday is her birthday, so I'm going to give it to her for her birthday. She has 8 grandkids (7 of which are girls!), and has tons of little professional pictures that we've given her. So, besides not knowing what to do with them, and then getting them mixed up with who is who, I thought this would be perfect for her to show them off in! My mom can be kind of forgetful, but who can blame her? My sister and I had our last babies 2 months apart and named the Mackenzie Grace (of course) and Makenna Rose; our babies before that were only 3 days apart and named Hannah Grace and Stephanie Grace; her first's name is Katherine Grace. So she got 5 new girls in 4 years. My brother's 3 kids are all a little older.
I got this idea from splitcoaststampers and adapted it a little. I started with a strip of paper 4"x11" and scored it at 1 3/4, 2, 5, and 8; I did one in Pretty in Pink, another in Regal Rose. I stamped the Petals jumbo wheel in the same colors, and stamped over it with craft White ink using an outline flower stamp from Polka Dots and Petals. Then I cut out 3 strips of black cardstock 7.5 x 2.75 and folded in half. I layered these on the pink sheet, alternating which way they opened up. I cut 3 strips of Cool Caribbean 5 x 3.5, and layered on the black. These are the perfect size for the smaller pics that you get from the studio. I used the Sweet Designer Paper from the winter mini, as well as a variety of stamps: Sweet on you; delight in Life; So Very; Warm Words. What I love about this layout, as opposed to other variations of this, is that you can fit up to 15 pictures in it! or alternate between pics and journaling, depending on your needs and tastes. I left more room for journaling in mine, and less in my mom's. I was sure to include names and ages, though. When trying to scrap in such a small space, you really have to be creative on how you layer!
